My robot "Dancing Queen" was my first contact with arduino.
We started by opening up some toys and seeing what's inside. With the motor I made this little dino guy you can see on the left. It was pretty hard to make a little robot. This was the first time I realised how important experimenting and throwing stuff together is. I glued the sponge to the motor and the dino head, not really thinking about it. And there is was. My little, happy jumping, dino.
This is where the experimenting for the robot started. I only had my arduino, but no idea what or how to make it. I started by programming the wheels so my robot could move. After the wheels i programmed the lights.
I found some brown packaging which I started experimenting with. When I put the arduino and the weels on the packaging it started to look like a big parade float, which I loved! So I decorated the "float" accordingly. Loads of rhinestones and some cut up cd's. After that I reprogrammed the wheels and the lights, plus I added a distance sensor. "Dancing Queen" is a robot always looking for other people. Once other people are found and get close enough to the distance sensor, Dancing Queen will bust out their greatest dance moves before continuing their search. The "Dance moves" are achieved by having the wheels move in different ways, making the robot turn around in all kinds of directions.
